Rachmaninoff and Mahler
Mahler’s epic Symphony No. 5

Mahler Symphony No. 5

London Philharmonic Orchestra
Stravinsky called Rachmaninoff 'an awesome man', and in the hands of a really exceptional artist, even a work as familiar and popular as Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto can disclose new wonders. The award-winning young Russian virtuoso Arseny Tarasevich-Nikolaev is just such a pianist; critics have hailed his 'precision and power'. Meanwhile, the German press described Robert Trevino’s recent performance of Mahler's Fifth as 'breathtaking', and from the opening trumpet call to its heaven-storming finish, he'll be an energetic and inspiring guide through the tragedies, triumphs and heartfelt love songs of Mahler's sweeping symphonic odyssey.
* In co-operation with the Serge Rachmaninoff Foundation.
