Read pianist Frank Dupree's biography here.
Rossini doesn't immediately spring to mind when you think of sacred music – and no one was more surprised than the composer himself. 'Dear Lord, I was born for opera buffa as well you know', he commented. 'A little skill, a little heart – that's all'. He was being modest: his Stabat Mater is a deeply moving declaration of faith, written for operatic voices by a true master. Carlos Miguel Prieto will bring all his dramatic flair to the work; first, though, he is joined by Frank Dupree in Beethoven's Third Piano Concerto – a journey from darkness to light by a young composer wrestling with both love and despair.
