'If we needed a single-programme testament to that special genius, this all-Britten celebration from Vladimir Jurowski and his London Philharmonic Orchestra was it. In addition to the two billed soloists, there were at least a dozen from within the orchestra who proved the point.'
David Nice, The Arts Desk, 3 October 2013
Our new 2013/14 season continued on Wednesday 2 October 2013 with a second all-Britten concert at Royal Festival Hall under Vladimir Jurowski featuring tenor Mark Padmore and cellist Truls Mørk. Here are the press reviews ...
'The London Philharmonic Orchestra can be particularly proud of this concert, presenting four relatively rare works together and in such well-prepared, confident and revealing performances.'
Colin Anderson, Classical Source, 3 October 2013
'Soloist Truls Mørk turned in an instant from puckish speed and featheriness to a beautifully murmuring tenderness.'
Ivan Hewett, The Telegraph, 3 October 2013
'After playing so perfectly prepared and beautifully detailed as this, the rest is noise indeed.'
Richard Fairman, Financial Times, 4 October 2013
'The LPO are an orchestra on fire at the moment'
Paul Kilbey, Bachtrack, 4 October 2013
