Under the baton of Vasily Petrenko, the Orchestra gave a rousing performance of works by Walton, Khachaturian and Tchaikovsky, with the latter's Piano Concerto No. 1 being played by the masterful George Li.
‘Petrenko’s interpretation of this great score was quite masterly throughout, gripping and moving by turns and inspiring the LPO to give of its best.’ Robert Matthew-Walker, Classical Source, 27 March 2019
★★★★☆ ‘Petrenko and the LPO pulled out all the stops from the outset’ Chris Garlick, Bachtrack, 28 March 2019
‘The dramatic, near-apocalyptic atmosphere generated by the Orchestra provided a soulful ending, thoroughly deserving of the rapturous applause which followed’ Paul Morrison, Chamber News, 1 April 2019
