To round February off, Andreas Ottensamer joined Vladimir Jurowski and the Orchestra for rousing renditions of works by Weber and Alice Mary Smith, sandwiched with Wagner's Tannhäuser Overture and Brahm's Second Symphony.
‘Jurowski at his marshalling best: his minimal direction produced electrifying results.’ Kevin Rogers, Classical Source, 27 February 2019
‘With the LPO trombones on thrilling form, their chorale scything through the pealing strings, Jurowski was in his element, taut baton flicks maintaining the excitement.’ Mark Pullinger, Bachtrack, 28 February 2019
‘Beautifully accompanied under Vladimir Jurowski’s deft direction, the Weber seemed the epitome of German romanticism at its most delicate.’ Richard Morrison, The Times, 28 February 2019
