On March 3, the Orchestra performed Haydn's grand follow-up to The Creation, The Seasons, featuring Sophie Bevan, Mark Padmore and Andrew Foster-Williams, to critical acclaim.
From the dramatic realisation of the Prelude it was clear that the LPO would play colourfully throughout – this is Jurowski’s way. Particularly effective was the playing of the violas leading into Summer – a wonderfully mysterious moment.’ Anthony Hodgson, Classical Source, 2 March 2019
‘Marked from rustling spring to glacial winter by verve, crispness and clarity, Jurowski’s conducting brought out the sparkling inventiveness of Haydn’s music. His large forces never swamped the wit and cunning on display in every bar.’ Boyd Tonkin, The Arts Desk, 4 March 2019
‘Maestro Jurowski was on top of his game […] this performance of The Seasons was more than welcomed and proved a real treat’ Tony Cooper, Planet Hugill, 7 March 2019
