About the LPO Label
London Philharmonic Orchestra Label recordings
In 2005 the London Philharmonic Orchestra established its own CD label in response to the changes in the recording industry. The major labels were reducing the number of new classical recordings that they were releasing, which meant that we were missing the chance to share part of the orchestra's performing history. The orchestra fully owns the LPO Label, which means we have full control over what music we release.
Our recordings are taken mainly from live concerts, new and old. The catalogue offers a range of recent performances with our Principal Conductor Vladimir Jurowski or guest conductors. It's also a chance to explore outstanding archive recordings with some of our former Principal Conductors: Beecham, Boult, Haitink, Solti, Tennstedt and Masur.
You can hear exciting performances of orchestral and choral masterpieces from the core repertoire, world premieres by living composers, and two specially recorded discs of music for children including The Snowman, narrated by Chris Jarvis.
With releases regularly being chosen as editor's choice in Gramophone and BBC Music magazines, including several coveted Gramophone 'Recording of the Month' awards, we're confident that you'll enjoy our recordings and the way in which we capture the excitement of the live concert.
All new releases are available worldwide as CDs and to download from all major music-selling websites. The catalogue is also hosted on streaming sites such as Spotify and Apple Music.
