Kurt Masur enjoyed a 25 year relationship with the London Philharmonic Orchestra, conducting more than 150 performances in London and internationally during his tenure as Principal Conductor (2000–07). This captivating pair of live concert recordings from 2004 is tribute to Masur’smusical legacy: he conducted Beethoven from memory, with insight, cohesion, and faithfulness to the score.

The two Symphonies recorded here are joyous works sharing an unmistakable Beethovenian energy and buoyancy.
