Vladimir Jurowski conducts his grandfather's arrangements of Rachmaninoff songs

In the final concert of Rachmaninoff: Inside Out on Wednesday 29 April, the LPO's Principal Conductor Vladimir Jurowski conducts his grandfather’s own arrangements of ten of Rachmaninoff’s most touching songs.

Vladimir Jurowski’s grandfather, with whom he shares his name, was a composer in Russia in the early 20th century, but it was not until after the war that he first heard Rachmaninoff’s music - and it proved a life-changing experience for him.

In this short interview with WRTI Radio Philadelphia, Vladimir Jurowski discusses his grandfather’s arrangements of these songs, which he conducts at Royal Festival Hall on Wednesday 29 April. Prior to the performance you can hear Vladimir Jurowski discussing his grandfather's arrangements in person at our free pre-concert talk. More info and tickets
