Henry Baldwin

Joined the LPO in 2015

Henry joined the London Philharmonic Orchestra as Co-Principal Percussion in 2015. Before joining the LPO he spent four and a half years in the percussion section of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. Whilst in the RLPO Henry performed the world premiere of Stewart Copeland's percussion concerto Poltroons in Paradise with Vasily Petrenko in Liverpool and on tour in Europe and China at the Beijing NCPA International Percussion Festival.

Henry is also Principal Percussion with, and a founding member of, the critically acclaimed Aurora Orchestra, with whom he has performed a wide range of repertoire. Highlights include Boulez's Le Marteau sans Maitre as part of the International Chamber Music Series at Southbank Centre, and solo performances on tour at the Melbourne Festival and in Brazil. Henry also enjoys a diverse freelance career and has played as guest principal with, amongst others, the Philharmonia, City of Birmingham Symphony and English Chamber orchestras, and the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Henry is a Professor of Percussion at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
