New CD: Bruckner 3 / Skrowaczewski

The LPO label's April 2015 release is a live concert recording of Bruckner's Symphony No. 3, conducted by internationally renowned Bruckner specialist Stanisław Skrowaczewski.

'With the LPO offering a refulgent and vibrant performance, Skrowaczewski conjured a first movement at once urgent and heroic, fizzing with intent and incident, in which tender asides melted the heart and the music’s recesses were probed' Classical Source review of the concert performance, March 2014

From its opening expectant hush via its central Adagio movement (composed in memory of Bruckner’s mother) to its Austrian folk dance-influenced final movement, Bruckner’s Symphony No. 3 displays both the key influence of Wagner on the composer, and his structural flair, which earned his symphonies the description ‘cathedrals of sound’.

After the LPO label's very well received release of Bruckner's Symphony No. 7 conducted by Skrowaczewski, we are delighted to add another Bruckner interpretation of the great conductor to our catalogue. This performance uses Skrowaczewski's own edition of the Bruckner Symphony No. 3 score, offering listeners a fantastic opportunity to get inside the mind of Bruckner's greatest interpreter.
