VE Day Performance

To mark the 75th Anniversary of VE Day, LPO Principal Viola David Quiggle has specially arranged ‘We’ll Meet Again’ for string quartet and percussion. Watch to the end for an extra special moment.

A duet with a twist! Twins Pei-Jee & Pei-Sian Ng (Co-Principal Cellist of the LPO and Principal Cellist of the Singapore Symphony Orchestra respectively) bring us a special lockdown performance of Popper's Serenade. Stay tuned and alert for instrument swapping fun.

Kevin Lin and Ray Chen

Kevin Lin has teamed up with Ray Chen to bring us Wieniawski’s explosive Etude Caprice No. 4, recorded in lockdown.

Kevin Lin is Co-Principal of the LPO, and Ray Chen is a renowned solo violinist who would have performed the Sibelius Violin Concerto with us at the end of May.

Carnival of the Animals

This time last year, five of our players were performing Saint-Saëns’ Carnival of the Animals in a setting like no other – Belmond Eagle Island Lodge in Botswana. This performance was part of the London Philharmonic Orchestra’s partnership with Belmond, ‘Exceptional Music in Exceptional Locations’

The LPO viola family presents...

We have something a little different for you courtesy of the LPO viola family, including our wonderful Foyle Future Firsts and LPO Junior Artists, with additional help from Kristina Blaumane on cello and Andrew Barclay on percussion. Huge thanks to our Principal Viola David Quiggle for this special arrangement. Although we're miles apart, we still stand together.

Beethoven’s Quartet No. 10 in Eb Major, Op. 74, ‘The Harp’

Anne-Sophie Mutter and her LPO friends were proud to present the launch video for LPOnline. Anne-Sophie, a much-loved and regular guest artist with the London Philharmonic Orchestra was be joined by LPO Leader Pieter Schoeman, Co-Principal Viola Richard Waters and Principal Cello Kristina Blaumane in this specially-created excerpt from Beethoven’s Quartet No. 10 in Eb Major, Op. 74, ‘The Harp’.

Recorded separately at their homes in Munich, Tonbridge, Pimlico and Barnes respectively, the music has been combined by the wonders of technology to create a glorious tutti, and to offer our audiences a small part of the concert that was due to be performed by this very special quartet at the Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall on Thursday 26 March.
