Lasma Taimina

Joined the LPO in 2020

Lasma Taimina was born in Riga, Latvia, and studied at the Music Academy of Latvia with Eva Bindere. In 2009 she received a full scholarship to study at the Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia in Madrid with Zakhar Bron.

In 2017 Lasma completed a Masters with Distinction from the Royal College of Music, London, with Yuri Zhislin. During her studies she was a scholar of The Kathleen Trust and the Drake Calleja Trust.

Prior to her LPO appointment Lasma was a participant on the Orchestra's Foyle Future Firsts programme. She also participated in the LSO String Experience and BBCSO Student Pathway schemes.

With her string quartet Lasma has performed across the UK and in Spain, including at Wigmore Hall and Cadogan Hall. She also performs regularly with other leading orchestras in the UK and Europe, and continues her studies at the Accademia Perosi, Italy, with Professor Pavel Berman.

Lasma plays a violin on loan from the Harrison Frank Foundation.
