Last night, Tuesday 22 July, was the Orchestra's first of two appearances at this year's BBC Proms. Along with the cast of this year's Glyndebourne production of Richard Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier, we gave a semi-staged performance of the opera, conducted by Glyndebourne's new Music Director, Robin Ticciati. The 2014 Glyndebourne season continued with the opening of Verdi's La traviata on Thursday 17 July, conducted by Sir Mark Elder. The London Philharmonic Orchestra will give 13 performances of the opera on various dates until 23 August.
The 10 August performance will be broadcast live in cinemas nationwide and streamed on the Telegraph website: details here. The production will later go on tour across the UK in the autumn: details here.

Last Saturday, 7 June, was the opening night of Mozart's Don Giovanni at Glyndebourne Festival Opera. The London Philharmonic Orchestra accompanied the production conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada, who will become the Orchestra's Principal Guest Conductor from the 2014/15 season.

Each summer the London Philharmonic Orchestra leaves its Royal Festival Hall home and decamps down to the Sussex countryside to play at the annual Glyndebourne Festival Opera. This year's Festival opened last Saturday (17 May) and will run until 24 August, during which time the Orchestra will perform four different operas.

The London Philharmonic Orchestra's final concert of its 2013/14 Royal Festival Hall season took place on Saturday 26 April. The concert, conducted by Principal Conductor Vladimir Jurowski, opened with the UK premiere performance of Marko Nikodijevic's La lugubre gondola, followed by Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 (Emperor) with soloist Leif Ove Andsnes and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 6 (Pathétique).

March 2014's release on the LPO Label was Orff's Carmina Burana. Recorded live at Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall on 6 April 2013 as part of the year-long The Rest Is Noise festival, the performance was conducted by Hans Graf and featured soloists Sarah Tynan, Andrew Kennedy and Rodion Pogossov together with the London Philharmonic Choir and Trinity Boys Choir.

On Friday 25 April 2014 at Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall, Vladimir Jurowski conducted the London Philharmonic Orchestra in a programme of music by Rimsky-Korsakov, Rodrigo and Tchaikovsky, with guitar soloist Miloš Karadaglić.
