About our Education & Community programme
The London Philharmonic Orchestra’s role in the community extends far beyond the concert platform
Through our Education and Community Department, we share the power and wonder of our world-class music with the broadest possible audience.
Our main programme strands:
- provide first musical experiences to children and adults alike (Musical Intros)
- offer formal learning projects and performances for schools, and CPD opportunities for teachers (Schools and Training)
- inspire talented teenage musicians to progress their creative and instrumental skills (Young Creatives)
- develop the next general of professional instrumentalists and composers (New Talent)
Our programme is run in partnership with the Music Education Hubs of Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Royal Greenwich, who recommend our participant schools and support the ongoing development of the work. We are proud to work with these partner Hubs and Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance as part of the South Riverside Music Partnership.
We are committed to genuine 360-degree learning, continually developing our musicians' creative leadership skills and learning from all our participants – bringing the inspiration they give us back to the Orchestra.
