Who's who in the orchestra
Clarinet (Sub-Principal)/Principal E-flat Clarinet
Joined the LPO in 2014
Chair supported by Roger Greenwood
Thomas studied the clarinet at The Purcell School and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. After several years as a freelancer working with many of the British orchestras (particularly with the LPO), he spent nine years as a member of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra before finally joining the LPO in September 2014. He recorded many of the principal clarinet cornerstones of the orchestral repertoire while with the RPO, and Schubert's Shepherd on the Rock for EMI. He has two daughters, Grace, who plays the bassoon, and Amália, who has a special talent for singing the words from one song to the tune of another.
Thomas featured in the 'Backstage' interview in our Spring 2015 edition of the Orchestra's magazine, Tune In. Read the interview here.
