Following an exciting year charting the music of the 20th century as part of The Rest Is Noise, we look forward to the second half of our Royal Festival Hall season at Southbank Centre. We return to a rich and varied programme featuring some of the great orchestral composers who paved the way for those 20th-century mavericks we celebrated in 2013. We also continue to champion composers at the cutting edge, performing works from the 21st century, including several world premieres. Highlights include:

Highlights include:

  • Principal Conductor Vladimir Jurowski conducting Beethoven Symphonies 3 (Eroica) and 6 (Pastoral), and his first performance with the LPO of Beethoven's mighty Ninth Symphony (Choral)

    World premieres of the late Górecki's highly anticipated Fourth Symphony and James MacMillan's Viola Concerto with Lawrence Power

    Principal Guest Conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin with a concert of organ masterpieces and a performance of Mahler's Ninth Symphony

    Visiting conductors including Vasily Petrenko, Andrés Orozco-Estrada, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, Osmo Vänskä, David Zinman and Stanisław Skrowaczewski

    Distinguished soloists including Mitsuko Uchida, Leif Ove Andsnes, Emanuel Ax, Marc-André Hamelin, Leonidas Kavakos, Julia Fischer and Daniel Müller-Schott

    Outstanding new artistic talent including guitarist Miloš Karadaglić, cellists Jean-Guihen Queyras and Johannes Moser, and young Venezuelan conductor Ilyich Rivas

    Valentine's Day concert of romantic classics including Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 and Tchaikovsky's Romeo and Juliet overture

    The final two FUNharmonics family concerts, featuring newly commissioned works by composer Benjamin Wallfisch inspired by Roald Dahl's Dirty Beasts
