Beethoven Coriolan Overture
Hummel Trumpet Concerto
Beethoven Symphony No 3, ‘Eroica’
Rory Macdonald conductor
Paul Beniston trumpet
London Philharmonic Orchestra
The 19th century’s most famous radical, Beethoven, explores the dark underbelly of ancient Rome in his tense and psychological Coriolan Overture and challenges that other great 19th century force, Napoleon Bonaparte, in the mighty ‘Eroica’ Symphony.
Nestled between the two is a summertime treat for the ears in Johann Nepomuk Hummel’s Trumpet Concerto – a revolution in its own way, written to celebrate a new innovation in trumpet-making.
And why not make the most of your evening by taking along a picnic to enjoy with your music?
This is a free event, no tickets required. Due to venue capacity restraints entry will be on a first come, first served basis.
