Lean's 1945 film traces the repressed infidelity of a married doctor and suburban housewife who meet on a train platform. It features Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No.2 at various points – indeed, the film was largely responsible for making this passionate work famous in the UK.
A complete performance of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No.2 precedes the screening. Lucy Fleming, daughter of Celia Johnson will introduce the screening.
