The London Philharmonic Orchestra is joined by celebrated virtuoso Nicola Benedetti, with the dynamic Enrique Mazzola at the helm for this rousing programme at Nottingham's Royal Concert Hall.
Nicola Benedetti's achievements as a virtuoso performer and global ambassador for classical music have earned her worldwide acclaim, a Classic BRIT award and an MBE. She takes centre stage in this concert with Brahms's majestic Violin Concerto, which pits the soloist's expressive power against the might of the orchestra. The inspiration for Mussorgsky's Picture at an Exhibition was a series of characterful paintings by the composer's friend Victor Hartmann. These bold piano portraits are more impressive still in Maurice Ravel's peerless orchestration of 1922, atmospheric and spectacular in equal measure.
