Noli, LPO Junior Artist 2017

As a child growing up in Lewisham I went to the LPO’s Animate Orchestra in my school holidays between the ages of 7 and 12. I really enjoyed the music-making sessions and lots of my friends also went along. A few years after Animate I was introduced to the LPO’s Junior Artists scheme and decided I would apply; I’m a viola player.

I really wanted to be a part of the scheme because I have first hand experience of being the only person of colour in the youth orchestras that I play with and I’m really keen to change that. Being a part of Junior Artists I hope will make me a role model. I believe, and very much hope, that if someone younger sees me on the concert platform, they will be inspired to believe that they can do the same.

Help us celebrate this 30th year of the LPO’s Education and Community Programme.
