The London Philharmonic Orchestra made its first recordings
on 10 October 1932, just three days after its first public
performance following its founding by Sir Thomas Beecham.
It has recorded and broadcast regularly ever since, and in
2005, established its own CD label. These recordings are taken mainly from live concerts given by famous conductors including LPO Principal Conductors from Beecham and Boult, through Haitink, Solti and Tennstedt, to Masur and Jurowski. They allow us to hear exciting performances of orchestral masterpieces from the core repertoire, world premieres by living composers, and a specially recorded disc of music for children, including The Snowman, narrated by Chris Jarvis.
