If you’ve never been to a London Philharmonic Orchestra concert before and are unsure about what to book for or what to expect here’s a quick guide.
Introduction to the London Philharmonic Orchestra The London Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the world’s leading orchestras. You can hear them at Southbank Centre (near Waterloo/ Embankment stations) where they perform around forty concerts between September and June each year. They have also recorded hundreds of albums – pop as well as classical – in addition to film scores such as Lord of the Rings.
Evening Concerts: What to expect Most of the Orchestra’s evening concerts start at 7.30pm and finish around 9.30pm with a 20 minute interval.
If you are late, you will be asked to wait outside the auditorium until a suitable break in the music.
It is usual to clap as the conductor walks onto the stage and after a piece has finished - if in doubt, wait until everyone else starts to applaud!
